Hi all!
I am back in town and finally settled in to my house with two Mama"s and Babies and 6 kittens!
Thanks to everyone that stepped up to help this week. I found a foster for a Mama and 5 beautiful red kittens, there is rescue for many of the kittens, and I was able to pull enough to free up a several cages, which were promptly filled!. There were 2 adoptions but 5 surrenders on that day alone. The farmers are finding kittens and Mama's all over the place. Too bad they do not take advantage of the spay and neuter twice a week here. They just bring them to the shelter when there are too many. Such a shame.
I now have over my max of fosters. Besides my own 8, I have 14 kittens, and 7 adults. They are eating me out of house and home!!!
Deb, I want to thank you so much for your tremendous help! You don't know what a boost to morale that was and being able to save all of these cats and kittens was a Godsend. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Janet, George will have a home with other FIV cats and it is a very good home with one of our volunteers. The other orange boy is gorgeous 2 year old surrender, and I know you will fall in love with him. I did. I will send you a picture. Lara.
Thank you for your offers of rescue! Without rescue, we could not do anything! Money helps a great deal, but Rescues and fosters are extremely important to make this all work! Thank you!
Now, on to the next group of kitties. I left several kittens at the shelter, some with their Mothers and 5 without. They were young, and need to get a little stronger. I hope they make it. Those 5 are little survivors tho, born wild and HAVE STRONG INSTINCTS OF SURVIVAL.
One of them grabbed a small can of food out of my hand, and ran with it growling. He weighs less than one pound. I put my bet on him for survival. What a little cute thing. I was laughing so hard! It took 2 of us to take it away from him!
I don't know what the next weeks will bring but, I cannot make this trip except once a month, the cost is sooo much, not only financially but, emotionally. My hats off to the girls at the shelter, who have to survive this on a daily basis. I get upset when they don't answer my e mails of calls or send me pictures but, I do understand that they are overworked and overwhelmed.
Thanks again to everyone that responded to my desperate plea.
Kitty purrs and head bonks,
Rebecca
